My story

Hi, I’m Margie and I have been making art for as long as I can remember. I’ll never forget a teacher I had in grade two who encouraged me to be an artist and made such a big difference in my life. 

   I grew up in coastal North Carolina, eventually married the love of my life and moved to the beautiful mountains of Virginia. 

   We have two kids and as they were growing up, we read many, many picture books to them. That is when I fell in love with picture book illustration, watching the world come alive in my children’s eyes as they poured over those illustrations.

  My family and I moved to Africa for several years. It was an incredible cultural experience. While we were there, I illustrated “Once Upon a Bedtime” a picture book introducing kids to different cultures around the world. 

  We just recently returned and I’m captivated by the beauty of the mountains all over again. When I need fresh inspiration for an illustration, I go outdoors and it’s all there in nature.
